About the Employer

The Merced County Office of Education assists Merced County’s 20 school districts through support and oversight of curriculum and instruction, alternative education, business services, early education, technology, migrant education, special education, and teacher credentialing. MCOE is led by the elected Merced County Superintendent of Schools and governed by the Merced County Board of Education. While serving as a focal point to facilitate local school/government/community partnerships, MCOE is responsible for the fiscal oversight of each school district in Merced County, hears appeals for student expulsion hearings and interdistrict transfers and operates Green Meadows Outdoor School.

SUMMARY OF POSITION: Under the general direction of the assigned administrator, the Food Service Specialist organizes and participates in the full-scope of operating an efficient and effective café. Assist in menu development, food preparation and food presentation. Orders and maintains an inventory of food items. Maintains food service records in compliance with state and federal requirements. This position requires competency in staging food services in a restaurant and catering setting. Provides leadership to other represented food service staff to ensure accountability for food safety and sanitation. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Satisfactory results from pre-employment physical required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: This position requires a High School diploma or recognized equivalent plus one year of specialized training in food service, and two years of progressively responsible experience in food preparation, menu planning, inventory and ordering. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES: Requires valid California Driver’s License. If using personal vehicle in the course of employment, must have proof of liability insurance required by law. DMV Driver Record printout. Safe-Serve or equivalent certification is required. Requires satisfactory results from pre-employment strength test. SELECTION PROCESS: Applications will be reviewed for satisfaction of minimum qualifications, including submitting all required documents. A maximum of eight applicants will be invited for a panel interview. All candidates will be notified via email following final selection.
