We have an exciting opportunity for a Political Science Instructor to serve our campuses District Wide. Mt. San Jacinto Community College District seeks a Political Science Instructor to teach and develop courses in Political Science. This is a full-time tenure-track academic position. Full-time faculty are typically assigned 15 lecture hours (or the equivalent in laboratory, studio or related activities) of student contact time per week. Office hours are also required. Faculty members are expected to participate in college governance through Academic Senate appointments to standing councils, committees, and/or a variety of task forces. Teaching assignments may include a mixture of day, evening, multi-campus, off-campus classes, and online classes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. A Master's degree in political science, government, or international relations (attach transcripts); OR 2. A Bachelor's degree in any of the above AND A Master's degree in economics, history, public administration, social science, sociology, and any ethnic studies, Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.), or Legum Baccalaureus (LL.B.) (attach transcripts); OR 3. The equivalent; AND 4. Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff ***Before scanning attachments, remove/redact sensitive, confidential information such as date of birth, social security number, address and photograph*** DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS 1. Three (3) years of experience teaching political science at the community college or university level 2. Demonstrated commitment to student equity and diversity 3. Familiarity in designing and teaching curriculum responsive to the needs and interests of historically underrepresented students 4. Demonstrated ability to teach a variety of political science courses 5. Demonstrated ability and willingness to work effectively with first-generation college students using multi-modal approaches and student-centered pedagogy and andragogy 6. Ability to collaborate with faculty or community leaders in programs or initiatives that are specifically designed to help historically underrepresented students achieve their educational goals 7. Evidence of experience in participatory governance, as well as department and/or campus activities and programs 8. Evidence of a strong commitment to remain current in political science 9. Demonstrated ability to work closely and collaboratively with students and colleagues in support of a positive, productive, and professional academic environment 10. Ability to contribute to the mission and strategic plan of the college
