While UC Scout's home campus is located at 3175 Bowers Avenue in Santa Clara, the UC Scout team is a fully remote team, with individuals making occasional visits to the campus as needed. UC Scout serves high school students, providing online high school courses for students and curricula for educators. UC Scout's growing team comprises six departments: instructional design, media, academics, support, outreach, and business intelligence. The team consists of approximately 50 full-time staff and 70 part-time employees. UC Scout works closely with UCSC Extension support staff, including IT, finance, and the office of the Dean to support UC Scout’s goals. The Academic department is one of several that comprise UC Scout: Academic, Instructional Design, Media Production, Business Intelligence, Outreach, and Support. Together, the team provides high-quality A-G and AP curricula and courses for students in need, with an emphasis on advancing the academic success of California's educationally underserved students. Job Summary
Job Summary
The incumbent has an educational background in the subject matter and holds a California single-subject credential in Computer Science. Requires experience teaching in A-G courses and additional experience teaching Advanced Placement Computer Science courses. Duties include teaching online classes to K-12 students in the subject area of expertise. This task requires, but is not limited to: grading student assignments, communicating regularly with students and their guardians, maintaining the online classroom, posting weekly announcements, hosting live sessions via video conferencing, and facilitating engaging discussions on the course message boards. Strong communication skills are critical. Curriculum monitoring, improving and development is required, including, but not limited to: quizzes, exams, readings, activities, discussions, projects, course descriptions, syllabi, and teacher/student guides. Constant review and guarantee of academic accuracy of curriculum is required. The incumbent works in collaboration with administrative, production, and instructional design teams, playing an integral role in the production and maintenance of online courses.

- Current Clear cross-cultural, Language and Academic Development (CLAD) certification via California Teacher of English Learners (CTEL) or equivalent Certification.
- California Professional Clear Teaching Credential that authorizes incumbent to teach a second subject in a California high school.
- Strong ability to provide effective learning experiences for students from a wide range of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, and with varying mental, social and emotional maturity.
- Strong ability to effectively assess the educational needs of pupils, and design, develop and implement individual remediation and educational plans.
- Thorough knowledge of principles, theories, methods, techniques and strategies pertaining to teaching and instruction.
- Thorough understanding of child growth and development principles and theories.
