Duties Plan, organize, and facilitate a variety of engaging activities including arts and crafts, outdoor games, educational projects, and social-emotional learning sessions. Supervise children during extended care hours ensuring their safety and well-being at all times through attentive child supervision and behavior management strategies. Implement age-appropriate curriculum activities that promote childhood development, creativity, and teamwork. Maintain a safe environment by adhering to first aid protocols, CPR procedures, AED operation guidelines, and other health and safety standards. Collaborate with team members to develop individualized support plans for children with special needs or behavioral challenges. Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding children’s progress, behavior, and any concerns that arise during program hours. Lead outdoor work activities safely while encouraging children to explore nature responsibly; utilize camp experience when applicable. Experience Prior experience working with children in educational settings such as daycare centers, camps, or youth programs is highly preferred. We are seeking a part time teacher for our elementary extended care program, for both the summer and school year sessions. The summer session begins June 19 and ends July 21, and the school year session begins August 24. The teacher will supervise students in the extended care program, offer fun and engaging activities, and provide homework support for students age 6 to 12.
Hours: 3 pm to 6 pm, Mon. through Fri. Flexibility to arrive at 1:30 pm on monthly minimum days is preferred.
*Minimum Qualifications*
- Ability to relate to children and adults with maturity and respect.
- Minimum 1 year experience in a group child care setting, preferably with elementary age students.
- Experience in a Montessori environment preferred but not required.
- Completion of 12 ECE units preferred, but not required. (Child Development, Family, Child & Community, and Curriculum for Early Childhood.)
- Excellent English language communication skills.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Ability to pass pre-employment screening, including negative TB test and criminal background check.
This position is classified non-exempt and is paid on an hourly basis.
