Brief Description of Position: The District Classroom Teacher develops and teaches skills and knowledge in one or more courses and/or grade levels Administrative Relationship: The District Classroom Teacher is directly responsible to the Principal, through the Department Chair and Instructional Vice Principal Minimum Degrees/Credentials/Experience Required for Position: B.A. (B.S.), and valid Teaching Credential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Be aware of and conform to state, county, district, and school regulations which affect him/her 2. Utilize course(s) of study adopted by the Board of Trustees 3. Instruct students in citizenship, basic communication skills, and other general elements of the course(s) of study specified in state law and district regulations and procedures 4. Seek to teach students the proper function and value of education in American society 5. Identify student needs, cooperate with professional staff to help students solve health, learning and attitude problems, and actively seek to help each student succeed in class 6. Develop, implement, assess, and revise lesson plans and instructional materials 7. Provide a wide range of teaching strategies as one element of implementing individualized instruction 8. Seek to create an environment for learning that is functional and attractive 9. Evaluate academic growth of students and record and report this evaluation, and evaluate social growth 10. Interpret the school program and specific elements of it to parents and report the progress of individual students to parents 11. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior consistent with district and school behavior policies 12. Supervise a fair share of other than classroom activities 13. Cooperate in the selection and/or development of books, AV aids, pamphlets, learning units, equipment, etc., necessary to implementation of the learning function 14. Plan and coordinate the work of paraprofessionals 15. Participate in programs designed to improve human relations and the teaching function 16. Perform other related duties as assigned by the principal 5/7/79

Comments and Other Information

Long-term assignment – Long-term substitute pay is $260 for a full day and $140 for a half-day. Long-term pay is established on the 15th consecutive day worked in the same assignment for the same teacher. The increased rate is then retroactive to the first day of the assignment. The long-term rate will continue so long as there is not a break in the assignment. A break in the assignment will result in returning to the regular pay rate until 15 consecutive days have been reached again.
