POSITION DESCRIPTION: The job of Administrator, Special Education, Student Programs & Services (SPS), is responsible for assisting in the planning, implementing, administering, and maintaining assigned special education programs; serving as a resource on special education curriculum and program operations to school personnel and school districts; and maintaining staffing to ensure that the program objectives are achieved within budget. The position of Special Education Administrator provides support and technical assistance in the areas of special education leadership, program development, school wide change, school culture and professional learning community development as well as other duties assigned. The position is under the general supervision of the Special Education Executive Director as well as the Assistant Superintendent for Student Programs and Services. The position supervises teachers, instructional aides, and related clerical and professional staff. This position is designated as a certificated management position and is part of the Management Leadership Team. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: A minimum of two (2) years of successful special education teaching experience and at least three (3) years of administrative experience, including principal level, which would demonstrate exposure to and utilization of required skills, knowledge and abilities in performing job-related duties and responsibilities in a K-12 public education setting. REQUIRED EDUCATION: Master’s degree from an accredited college/university is required. Doctorate degree is desirable.
