POSITION TITLE: SPEECH AND LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST
GENERAL DUTIES:
Screen, evaluate and identify students for speech and language services; design and implement appropriate intervention strategies; collect student performance data and establish and maintain a daily schedule. Supervise Speech and Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) as necessary. Provide information relative to communication disorders to students, parent/guardians, and teachers.
DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Special Education
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- Assess students’ communication skills (e.g. articulation, language, fluency, voice, etc.) for the purpose of determining their communication needs deficits and developing recommendations.
- Ability to obtain or already possess the California permit to supervise Speech and Language Pathology Assistants (SLPA’s).
- Collaborate with teachers and parents regarding program content and intervention services
- Collect student performance data and monitor the effectiveness of the provided intervention.
- Design and implement appropriate intervention strategies, including a broad array of service delivery model including application of technology
- Facilitates meetings (e.g. IEP conferences, parent meetings, in-services, etc) for the purpose of developing plans and/or providing information regarding students’ functional goals.
- Instructs students for the purpose of implementing goals for remediation of speech and language deficits.
- Screens students for the purpose of determining the need for further individualized assessment.
- Maintain integrity of confidential information relating to students, staff or district patrons
- Train, schedule and direct assigned Speech and Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) to maximize delivery of services
- Cultivate and model a respectful working and learning environment

EDUCATION/CREDENTIALING/LICENSING:
- Masters in Speech and Language Pathology
- Appropriate California Speech and Language Pathology Services Credential
