Job Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Technology Services, responsible for installing, upgrading, and maintaining microcomputer and networking hardware and software; coordinating and performing all moves, adds, and changes (MAC) for the District telephone system; assessing and repairing microcomputers, printers, monitors, telephone and related communications equipment; providing technical support to District microcomputer and terminal users; controlling and monitoring vendor warranty and specialized repair activities and performs related duties as assigned. Installs, assembles, operates and coordinates the maintenance and repair of data communications hardware including video display terminals and monitors, microcomputers, modems, network hubs, bridges, switches, and routers; provides installation assistance with telecommunications infrastructure and networking equipment at various locations including equipment rooms, offices, classrooms, and other areas where needed; prepares and constructs areas for the installation of technology; coordinates construction and installation activities for technology with District contractors and District staff; inspects technology infrastructure installation; maintains spare parts and hardware location inventories; assists in the administration of District telecommunications networks; maintains networking environment; troubleshoots hardware and software, makes adjustments or repairs when required to maintain equipment in proper operating condition; may make major repairs and overhauls in District repair facility when required; troubleshoots telecommunications and networking equipment including hubs, switches, routers, modems, filters, firewalls, etc.; diagnoses problems with telecommunications services and serves as the District contact for the vendor; establishes and maintains preventive maintenance schedule for District microcomputers, monitors, printers, terminals, and related information technology hardware; recommends, cont

Requirements / Qualifications

Required: High school graduation or equivalent, a minimum of 6 months verifiable experience performing the following tasks, experience with the installation of voice and data telecommunications equipment, installation experience with copper unshielded twisted pair cabling; and conversant with all TIA/EIA standards; or such alternatives that the Personnel Commission may find desirable. Additional experience with video distribution technologies and distribution equipment; additional installation experience with coaxial and fiber optic cabling; and/or voice and data telecommunications coursework and experience are preferred.

Upon employment, new employee will be asked to show verification of COVID-19 vaccination or be scheduled for weekly COVID-19 testing.
