If you are motivated by these principles, we encourage you to join our team! HTH seeks IT Directors I/II to join the Information Technology team at High Tech High. JOB SUMMARY As a member of the HTH IT Department, the IT Director will perform the responsibilities of architecting and leading the installation, configuration, testing, documenting, and managing the maintenance of core infrastructure systems under the guidance and direction of the CTO. The IT Director will provide higher level support to I.T. admins, coordinate support for our schools, and provide direct I.T. support for students, staff and faculty at our various High Tech High Charter schools. This position supports the HTH IT Department and intermediate to advanced knowledge of computer systems and networks is required.

Duties Included (but are not limited to):
- Research, plan, design, coordinate, install, and maintain server and networking infrastructure (Windows, VMWare, MacOS, Linux, Cisco) for organization-wide IT operations
- Monitor and ensure high availability and redundancy of mission critical I.T. infrastructure
- Manage upkeep and maintenance of data center, server upgrades & patches, and backups
- Setup and maintain internal school databases and reporting tools
- Create and maintain automated account management tools and scripts
- Setup and maintain I.T. cybersecurity systems (firewalls, IPS/IDS, internet filtering/proxy systems)
- Configure and maintain VOIP phone systems
- Setup, manage, & troubleshoot AV equipment and systems
- Maintain and manage Windows, macOS, chromeOS, & iOS devices in a multi-user environment
- Create, maintain, and archive user accounts in Active Directory/Google Apps/PowerSchool
- Create materials to educate staff and students about IT policies and equipment/software usage
- Create I.T. infrastructure, policies, and I.T. support documentation for internal use
- Purchase equipment, communicate, and coordinate projects with vendors
- Create budgets and research I.T. solutions for schools, staff, and students
- Manage and provide Level 2 & 3 support for school I.T. admins as well as direct on-site I.T. support for staff & students
- Perform related duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience
- Minimum bachelor’s degree (ideally in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field) or equivalent work experience (at least 3 years of experience)
- Prior experience working in education preferred, not required
- Experience with various operating systems (Windows, macOS, iOS, chromeOS, etc)
- Experience with virtualization systems (Hyper-V, VMWare)
- Experience with DNS, DHCP, NPS (802.1x), File/Print, SMTP, SNMP, TCP/IP, etc
- Experience managing images and software deployment (Windows MDT, Moyle MDM, etc)
- Intermediate to expert level understanding of Cisco networks, wireless controllers and access points, and security fundamentals
- Intermediate to expert level understanding of Active Directory in a large multi-user environment
- Intermediate to expert level understanding of Linux/Unix servers for providing Internet, web, and VOIP services (pfSense, Apache, Wordpress, Asterisk)
- Intermediate to expert level experience with Google Apps (for Education)
- Experience creating scripts or tools for managing user accounts, software, and notifications
The distinguished difference between IT Director I & II is in the amount, complexity, and responsibility encountered in the performance of the duties. While the general job descriptions are very similar, the amount and extent of the work for IT Director II is more complex, requiring additional and more responsible judgement. Incumbents in this class use greater independent judgment in performing the duties relating to setup and maintenance of critical server infrastructure. Incumbents perform duties following best practice and standard procedures for maintaining high level I.T. service to all schools. Incumbents regularly function without direct supervision, although the duties and guidelines for independent action are well defined and supervision is available for all non-routine I.T. duties.
SALARY & BENEFITS
Salary is commensurate with experience. Director I salary starts at $72,981 and can range through $83,828. Director II salary starts at $86,752 and can range through $99,645.
