QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of: Current K-12 instructional practices; principles and techniques of educational technology, leadership in curriculum, design, staff development and program evaluation; technology infrastructure systems; public sector business and procurement practices; budget and management best practices. Ability to: Provide leadership in curriculum, design, staff development and program evaluation; supervise, coordinate, and direct managers, teachers, classified staff, advisory groups, and other stakeholders; communicate clearly and concisely; analyze trends in education and technology to incorporate into future plans; facilitate and lead change.

Experience: Demonstrate strong management/leadership skills. A minimum of five years’ experience at site or district-level coordinating technology integration into instruction or management of technology/information systems. Local, regional, or national educational technology conference presentations preferred. Education: Bachelor’s degree (B.A., B.S.) from an accredited four-year college or university in education, information systems, computer science, business data processing, or related field. Master’s degree in related area or postgraduate educational technology coursework desirable. Chief Technology Officer Mentor Program Certification preferred.       SUMMARY: Under general supervision of the Superintendent, the Chief Technology Officer plans, recommends, organizes, and directs district-wide information and computer operating systems along with instructional initiatives and systems; provides leadership, vision and guidance in the implementation of technology in the classroom and across the District. Develops and oversees a department budget; coordinates contract services; and has general oversight responsibility for classroom/school site technology. Collaborates with sites and District departments on technology-related issues; manages professional and technical staff. Creates and directs the District technology plan with multiple stakeholders and directs instructional technology professional learning in connection to the Local Control Accountability Plan. This is a management position and will serve as a member of the Superintendent’s Extended Cabinet.
