Job Summary

Lead the development of student responsibility, initiative, self-motivation, and cooperation in the classroom, by helping to develop and encourage programs that reflect a focus on multi-age,standards-based, developmental philosophies. Advise teaching staff and the broader community regarding current educational practices, trends, and research. Ensure the incorporation of state standards and assessments in educational programs and analyze student performance data to ensure strong student outcomes for all students. Analyze student performance data to develop support systems for performance improvement, and create and maintain programs to meet diverse student needs including, but not limited to, GATE, remediation, English language learners, neurodiverse learners and special education. Collaborate with the Executive Director in maintaining the Independent Study Program in conformance to county, state and federal objectives and laws. Meet regularly with students, parents, and faculty to communicate and engage them in embracing our mission and vision. Develop and implement school policies that support students in managing behaviors that support learning. Support and attend school community events. Give input and guidance to school support committees, such as Teacher Leadership, Program Site Council, and other support committees. Coordinate with school parent leaders in all aspects of the school-parent partnership. Work to plan and develop a parent education program that supports the mission and vision of our school community. Solicit and encourage input from staff regarding problem resolution, policy proposals, and overall advancement of Discovery programs. Oversee the creation of the school campus’ staff Professional Development Plans. Meet with and mentor teaching staff and provide performance appraisals.
