ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Supervise and organize a complete football program on all levels of the high school program.
Complete inventory of equipment used for the assigned sport, as well as the general upkeep and protection of equipment.
Work cooperatively with staff including, but not limited to, Principal, Assistant Principal, Athletic Director, Activities Director, etc.
While the sport is in season, complete reports when requested by the Athletic Director regarding any developments in the program.

At the end of the season, prepare an annual report evaluating the program and making recommendations for improvements, if requested by the Athletice Director.
Keep records as requested by the Athletic Director.
Draft and submit a budget; understand school finances and laws as they pertain to the position.
Strive to build good sportsmanship and develop good public relations in the school and community.
Assure that the assistants know the rules in the CIF Blue Book and Coach's Handbook and at all times abide by them.
With the assitance of the Athletice Director, coordinate and supervise the training of all football coaches in basic first aid procedures.
Assure that each student participating in the program has a physical, insurance and Consent to Treat Form.
Be aware of the general health and welfare of students in the assigned sport and give appropriate attention to athletes who are injured, ill, or otherwise incapacitated.
Monitor the actions and conduct of the team whenever they are under the Head Varsity Football Coach's jurisdiction.
With the Athletic Director, clear the departure times for trips that involve loss of school time and see that the faculty is given adequate and appropriate notice.
Make recommendations for letter awards consistent with A.S.B. guidelines.
Demonstrate knowledge and sensitivity to a diverse socioeconomic and multi-ethnic student population when planning classroom and football activities.
Have knowledge of fundamental skills as well as advanced techiniques needed for competitive football.
Take appropriate action to see that the practice areas, shower, and locker rooms are clean and safe for student participation.
KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:
Relate the football program to the school as a whole.
Build enthusiasm as well as motivate and inspire the athletes and coaches to achieve program goals.
Successfully maintain open channels of communication between students and parents, school, community, and booster groups.
Maintain a climate conducive to student learning.
Develop and maintain a discipline program.
Develop and maintain an atmosphere of mutual respect among students, teachers, and staff, as well as work with others in a positive manner.
Keep records that meet the needs of students, school, and District.
Demonstrate competency in the sport.
Work within a diversified and meaningful program.
Run a "Community Based Football Program" along with a "Tutoring Program" to provide the chance for all student-athletes with the opportunity for readiness to move onto the college level both academically as well as physically and emotionally.
Experience and knowledge to maintain relationships with college coaches and manage the college recruiting process of our student-athletes.
Desire to sustain a long-term commitment to a positive, winning tradition at Colton High School.
Must be knowledgeable and competent in first aid and emergency procedures (valid American Red Cross first aid card, and American Heart Association or other authorizing agency CPR card, California Athletic Trainer Certificate) coaching techniques, rules and regulations, and psychology as it relates to sports participation.
Must complete mandatory CIF Coaching Principles training or provide verification of completion.

Previous head coaching experience in the sport is desired.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Completion of all Education Code and Title 5, California Code of Regulations requirements for coaching eligibility.
Completion of Concussion Training.
Completion of Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training.
Possession of the Activity Supervisor Clearance Certificate (ASCC) or California Teaching Credential.
Must possess a valid California driver license.
