Summary Under the direction of the Deputy Superintendent/CBO; plans, coordinates and directs the functions of purchasing, maintenance, operations, facilities, fixed assets, food service and emergency preparedness. Distinguishing Career Features The Director of General Services is a classified management position requiring the ability to provide leadership and vision for a variety of areas within the General Services Department. Advancement to this position is based on demonstrated ability to manage and direct diverse operational functions, and while experience is not necessary in all areas of the department, experience managing and directing multiple priorities is essential.

Requirements / Qualifications

Knowledge and Skills Demonstrates the ability to lead a team modeling the organization’s core values and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment Possess leadership skills in planning, setting agendas, and coordinating/conducting meetings/training. Knowledge of program evaluation and data collection. Ability to be flexible based on program needs. Possess a valid California driver’s license and proof of liability insurance coverage in the minimum amount required by Napa COE policy. Must furnish own transportation as required to fulfill job duties It is desirable to have knowledge in one or more of the following: the rules and regulations affecting business and facilities activities; techniques of gathering information and preparing reports; purchasing procedures, sources of supply, materials, and equipment; legal aspects of public agency bidding; laws and regulations pertaining to employee safety; laws and regulations pertaining to handling, abatement, and disposal of hazardous materials, fixed asset records, and food service programs which include NSLP, CACFP and SFSP.

Education and Experience Possess a bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration or related field. Experience of an extraordinarily related nature may be substituted for degree requirements. Minimum of five years of experience in a business-related position. Desirable Qualifications: Three years of experience in a responsible capacity involving purchasing, maintenance, operations, facilities, fixed assets, food service and/or emergency preparedness. Knowledge of rules and regulations affecting business activities and maintenance and operations; techniques of gathering information and preparing reports; purchasing procedures, sources of supply, materials, and equipment; legal aspects of public agency bidding; laws and regulations pertaining to employee safety; and laws and regulations pertaining to handling, abatement, disposal of hazardous materials; fixed asset records, and/or food service programs which include NSLP, CACFP and SFSP.
