The Chabot-Las Positas Community College District is seeking a Part-Time Instructor, Art History for Las Positas College. The ideal candidate must have a passion for teaching and learning and a strong commitment to the missions and values of the community college.
The Instructor, Art History will be expected to provide instruction in general education courses in Art History, which include: Introduction to Art History, Western Art History – Ancient to Medieval, Western Art History – Renaissance to Modern, Art of the Ancient Americas, Asian Art History, Art of Africa Oceania and Native North America and Modern Art History.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Teach a variety of Art History topics to students of all levels, backgrounds and abilities.
2. Prepare and grade class assignments and assessments.
3. Exhibit sensitivity to the diverse personal, academic, socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s in art history, history of art and architecture or visual culture/visual studies OR Bachelor’s in art history and master’s in history OR Master’s in art with a recorded emphasis or concentration in art history OR the equivalent.
Evidence of understanding of and responsiveness to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, racial and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices within the classroom.

Desirable Qualifications
1. Familiarity with non-Western Art History.
2. Successful experience teaching Art History in a college or comparable setting.
