The San Diego County Office of Education is recruiting to fill one (1) full-time Special Education Teacher – Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) itinerant position based at the Davila Day School with South County SELPA. This position requires bilingual skills in American Sign Language (ASL) and English. The Special Education Teacher - DHH reports to the Coordinator, Special Education and is responsible for planning and implementing quality learning experiences, preparing semester plans and daily lesson plans, and creating a stimulating classroom environment conducive to intellectual discovery. Teachers are responsible for providing direct instruction using the Common Core State Standards. Teachers participate in the Individual Education Plan (IEP) process and integrate IEP activities into their lessons; plan assessment activities to evaluate students’ progress in relation to state standards and then prepare reports on student learning progress. This position will work with a variety of Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing students in preschool through transition aged students. Additional duties the incumbent will perform include assessing students on caseload as required; developing required reports including IEPs, conducting annual reviews and triennial reviews to ensure compliance with legal timelines; instructing cl

• Valid Education Specialist teaching credential with an authorization in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH); or equivalent document as issued by the CA Commission on Teacher Credentialing with an English Learner authorization and/or CLAD certificate or equivalency • Fluency in American Sign Language and English • Valid First Aid and CPR certification as issued by an American Red Cross or an American Heart Association-approved program is highly desirable Experience: Experience in the areas of learning disabilities, ESL, project based learning and team teachings; and/or Education: Bachelor’s degree in deaf education or graduate studies in deaf education or other related field; or Equivalency: A combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in deaf education or graduate studies in deaf education or related field; and/or experience in the areas of learning disabilities, ESL, project based learning and team teachings
