Job Summary
Provides instructional support to students as directed by the teachers of the Hearing Impaired. c. Keeps the teachers of the Hearing Impaired students informed regarding the students' progress in mainstream classes. d. Learns sign vocabulary specific to each class. e. Takes notes of mainstream classes and, if necessary, rewrites the notes to suit the language level of the Hearing Impaired student. f. Prepares for mainstream classes by checking out the appropriate text, by reading the assigned material, by communicating with the regular teacher, and by keeping up with the direction and demands of the class. g. Collaborates with the general education teacher and teachers

Requirements to be considered; - on line application at edjoin.org - Copy of transcripts (showing a minimum of 48 college units) official transcripts will be required upon employment as a substitute paraeducator - An Interpreter needs evidence of: By July 1, 2009, and thereafter, an educational interpreter shall be certified by the national Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), or equivalent; in lieu of RID certification or equivalent, an educational interpreter must have achieved a score of 4.0 or above on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA), the Educational Sign Skills Evaluation-Interpreter/Receptive (ESSE-I/R), or the National Association of the Deaf/American Consortium of Certified Interpreters (NAD/ACCI) assessment. If providing Cued Language transliteration, a transliterator shall possess Testing/Evaluation and Certification Unit (TEC Unit) certification, or have achieved a score of 4.0 or above on the EIPA - Cued Speech.
