Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Site Supervisor, Site Manager, or Child Development Services Coordinator teaches an assigned group of students using developmentally appropriate practices and by creating an environment, in which 3-5-year-old children can experiment, make choices, solve problems and share their experiences with others. Participates in and attends parent education and parent involvement activities.

.Education and Experience: • Possession of an Associate degree in early childhood education from an accredited college/university OR Associate degree in any other field with coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education • Hold a valid California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, Child Development Teacher Permit or higher • Completed coursework must include, with a grade C or better, in at least one of the following core areas: • Child/Human growth and development • Child Family and community or Child and Family Relations • ECE curriculum course • Possesion of at least 175 days of teaching experience with preschool aged children in a group setting (at least 50 hours of experience must be in an instructional capacity in a child care or development program working at least 3 hours per day in a six month period within the last two years) Licenses and Certifications: • Possession of a valid California Driver's License and the availability of an automobile with at least the state minimum insurance coverage required by law • Attain and maintain proof of completion of 16 hours of training in preventative health practices, including pediatric cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and pediatric first aid compliant with Title 22 regulations Desirable Qualifications: • Experience in developing parent or volunteer training programs • Experience with evaluating work methods or results • Bilingual, English/Spanish The Office of Head Start has ordered staff working in child care programs to be vaccinated against COVID19, all employees must provide proof of vaccinated for this position.
