Job Summary
At Serendipity School, we believe that young children learn from playing, problem solving, questioning, and experimenting. We use play and other instructional techniques to teach children about the world. Our teachers work with children from different ethnic, racial, and religious backgrounds. Teachers include topics in their lessons to teach children to respect people of different backgrounds and cultures. Responsibilities Include: Planning and implementation of age-appropriate monthly curriculum for their class. Working with children in groups, or one on one, depending on the needs of children and the subject matter. Communicating necessary information to parents and family members, Working cooperatively with teachers, support staff and administration. Planning and carrying out a curriculum that targets different areas of child development, such as language, fine and large motor ability, art, and social skills. Organizing activities so children can learn about the world, explore interests, and develop talents. Watching for signs of emotional or developmental problems in children and bring problems to the attention of administrators and parents. Keeping records of the students’ progress, routines, and interests, and keep parents informed about their child’s development.

Our small, dynamic, private K-5 school is looking for a positive, professional, creative, and capable educator to teach 1st Grade. Our progressive learning environment provides strong academics, hands-on instruction with an emphasis on Differentiated Instruction, and a rich co-curricular program. Our family of teachers provides enriched and balanced curriculum for a diverse community of children.
Candidates must possess all of the following:
*Teaching Credential
*3 years of Experience leading an Elementary School level classroom
*Proven ability to teach and support children one on one, in small groups, and in a full-class unit
*Experience planning and implementing dynamic classroom lessons that incorporate hands-on, project-based, collaborative, and experiential learning, as well as higher-level thinking skills such as logical reasoning, critical thinking, and problem solving
*Ability to differentiate instruction based on diverse learning styles, interests, and abilities
*An understanding of the academic, social, emotional, and developmental needs of elementary-aged students
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to interact positively and effectively with students, parents, faculty, and staff
