Job Summary

Job Summary

The job of Resource Teacher was established for the purpose/s of providing instruction, assessment and program planning for special education students with mild/moderate or moderate/severe disabilities to include specific learning disabilities; speech and language impairments; mild to moderate intellectual disabilities; other health impairments; serious emotional disturbance. The fundamental purpose of this position is to adapt the content, methodology or delivery instruction, as appropriate, to meet the needs of an eligible child and ensure students’ equitability to the general curriculum and rigorous educational standards adopted by the Charter School and the State.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Appropriate valid California Teaching Credential CLAD or EL certification Mild to Moderate or Moderate to Severe credential with authorization as required by served disabilities. Comments and Other Information

ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES: Works collaboratively with all members of the IEP team to coordinate the development and implementation of students’ IEPs. Adapts curriculum content and/or pedagogy to support student understanding of subject matter. Demonstrates knowledge of special education laws as well as SELPA and Charter School policies and procedures for the purpose of maintaining compliance with Federal and State laws. Establishes and effectively articulates goals for student learning. Uses multiple sources of information to assess student learning and guide instruction. Demonstrates knowledge of subject matter content and student development. Monitors students’ progress utilizing data that reflects student performance and adjusts instruction as needed based on analysis of the data for the purpose of coordinating services to individual students. Provides students with specialized academic instruction for the purpose of meeting their unique needs including push-in, pull-out, and learning center services. Communicates with other teachers, psychologists, specialists and others for the purpose of monitoring student progress. Provides timely feedback to students, parents, and general education teachers based on data for the purpose of coordinating services to individual students. Schedules IEP meeting with parents, general education teachers, administrators, and any members of the IEP team required by law for the purpose of maintaining compliance with federal and state laws. Facilitates learning experiences that promote autonomy, interaction and choice. Utilizes assessment results for the purpose of providing educational benefit to the students. Trains and provides work direction and guidance to assigned Instructional Aides for the purpose of meeting unique needs of students. (Training may include Crisis Prevention Intervention or a comparable model and appropriate lifting and toileting training). Uses technology in classroom instruction, in keeping appropriate records (including attendance) and preparing progress reports, report cards, state or charter assessments, etc. Uses classroom and/or behavior management techniques to achieve a safe and functional learning atmosphere for all students. This includes creating appropriate room displays. Participates in appropriate professional development activities, including professional development and obligations related to the educational programs of the Charter School. Administers, proctors, secures, and submits State and Charter School standardized assessments following State and Charter School policies and regulations. Works professionally and collaboratively with colleagues, administrators and other Charter School staff. Performs other related duties as assigned.
