Purpose:
The Social Work Resource Coordinator (“Coordinator”) builds and supports the capacity of the organization and its schools to ensure four-year college eligibility and persistence for all students. This is achieved in this position by connecting students and families with the supports they need and reflecting DCP’s values, mission, and commitment to equity. Through an explicit commitment to resource connection, community agency collaboration and engagement the Coordinator builds a robust system of supports for students and families..
Reporting to the Assistant Principal and Mental Health Counselor and serving as an integral member of the School Site Student Services Team, The Social Work Resource Coordinator will work closely with the Mental Health Counselor to provide resources, counseling and referrals to patients and families in various outpatient clinics and academic resources. The Social Work Resource Coordinator will screen students and families over the phone or in person. The Coordinator is integral in linking students and families to social work resources and other resources both inside and outside of the school context.
The Coordinator will develop a results-oriented and highly effective in creating relationships with families, students and community and governmental agencies providing culturally responsive mental health, behavioral health, physical health and social services for the purposes of meeting student and family needs.. Ideal candidates are support and systems-oriented, bring expertise in social services and/or social work. This person excels at building relationships, understanding the connection between core needs and academic support.
Outcomes and Responsibilities Include:
Coordinate Support Services
- Seeks out and establishes community for delivering mental health services to our sites and supports the integration of this into the school systems
- Ability to interact effectively and compassionately with patients who have significant needs and communicate significant observations to admin and counseling staff.
- Works directly with Assistant Principal, Dean of Students and Mental Health Counselor to identify clients in need of case management and care coordination support
- Document information regarding student care and behavior as required
- Provides student and parent advocacy services in areas such as: housing, arranging for medical/mental health services, arranging transportation and providing a supportive relationship to student and families
- Collaborates with school site student services administration and counselors to coordinate mental health crisis response as needed
- Provides administrative support for school counseling referrals through follow-up with families and students
- Provides in the moment response and monitoring for students in crisis, connecting them and their families to necessary outside resources for support
- Provides parent education related to mental and behavioral health supports
Attendance
- Works in partnership with the school attendance clerks and Assistant Principals to support students and families struggling with truancy, chronic absenteeism or other attendance related issues.
- Provides parent education on attendance supports, positive outcomes of attendance, etc
Engagement and Restorative Practices
- Utilizes restorative practices in the context of their support of students and families
Other Duties as Assigned
Key Qualifications:
- Deep commitment to and/or extensive experience serving low-income, first-generation college students
- Expertise in customer services at a social services agency, school or similar.

Skilled at organizing and prioritizing in a demanding context to maximize student mental health and safety
- Demonstrates a high degree of emotional intelligence, self-reflection and humility, building trust proactively, and practicing service leadership

Strong analytical and communication skills
- Expertise in Google Suite, Microsoft Office
- Ability to work independently

Bachelor’s Degree in social work, psychology or similar; Master's Degree or higher in Counseling, Social Work or a related field preferred
- PPS Credential or eligibility for PPS Credential in School Social Work or School Counseling highly desirable
- Bilingual in Spanish and/or Vietnamese highly desirable
