The Division of Juvenile Justice provides education and trauma informed treatment to California’s youthful offenders up to the age of 25 who have the most serious criminal backgrounds and most intense treatment needs. Most juvenile offenders today are committed to county facilities in their home communities where they can be closer to their families and local social services that are vital to rehabilitation.

Please be advised, the Division of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) has been slated for closure in June of 2023. However, no specific facility closure dates have been announced. We encourage all candidates interested in pursuing employment with DJJ to continue to apply for our vacancies as the day to day operations of providing rehabilitative services to California’s youth remain. Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
