Serve as chief executive officer of the Board of Education and the chief administrative officer of the District; provide leadership and direction for the planning, implementation, and management of the educational and operational programs of the District. Requirements / Qualifications
Experience which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities equivalent to at least five years experience in senior management of a large and complex organization such as a large, culturally diverse urban school district. A master’s degree in educational leadership, business management or related field is required. A credential that meets the legal requirements pursuant to the California Education Code is desirable. The credential requirement can be waived by the Board of Education. An applicant must evidence a proven track record of innovative and effective leadership experience including fiscal oversight experience. The candidate should have a proven record of successfully applying rigorous large-scale educational research to improve schooling. The candidate should have expertise in the district-wide initiatives in our LCAP, namely K-12 Ethnic Studies. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid California Administrative Services Credential (credentialed candidates only). Valid California Driver's License and availability of private transportation.

Nearly 6,000 educators support students at the district's various educational facilities, which include elementary schools, TK-8 schools, middle schools, high schools, charter schools, as well as atypical/alternative schools. Our Enrollment Guide provides a comprehensive overview of the unique programs available for students, including magnet programs such as International Baccalaureate, dual-language immersion, visual and performing arts, and STEM programs, to name a few.
