General Responsibilities

The Toutle Lake School District is seeking outstanding candidates for a K-6 Instructor. This is an excellent opportunity for teachers interested in working with a team of outstanding professionals in a great school program. Candidates should be interested in working with elementary students and enjoy preparing them for success, both inside and outside of the classroom environment.

Per agreement between the Toutle Lake School District and the Toutle Lake Education Association.  
 
Salary

Essential Functions/Other Functions

Essential Functions:

  1. Work cooperatively with administration and staff to develop and implement the instructional program.
  2. Teaching skills in math, reading, writing, science and social studies.
  3. Provide an effective instructional environment.
  4. Attend staff, department and district meetings as requested.
  5. Develop a budget consistent with the program/curriculum.
  6. Maintain appropriate inventory lists.
  7. Keep parents informed through conferences and/or reports of their students' progress.
  8. Work to develop in students a sense of consideration for others and of responsibility for contributing to the benefit of the school.
  9. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment during class, in hallways, during assemblies and other situations as needed.
  10. Supervise both adult and student aides.
  11. Communicate and interpret school programs to patrons.
  12. Participate in professional growth opportunities.

  1. Fulfill all other responsibilities as assigned. 
Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Valid/eligible for Washington Teaching Certificate, BA or MA in Elementary Education.
  2. Meet NCLB Highly Qualified designation requirements for Elementary School.
  3. Demonstrated strong skills and background in current trends, instructional methods and strategies in teaching elementary students.
  4. Demonstrated ability to develop curriculum aligned with the Common Core State Standards.
  5. Demonstrated experience, awareness and appreciation of diversity among individual students from a variety of backgrounds and experience.
  6. Demonstrated ability to use formative, summative, and performance assessment strategies, including preparing students for the Measurement of Student Progress (MSP) and Smarter Balance Assessment.
  7. Demonstrated ability to establish individual and subgroup, whole class, and grade-level/content area student growth goals.
  8. Demonstrated ability to use student growth or achievement data from multiple assessments to show clear evidence of growth for most students.
  9. Demonstrated ability to use multiple student data elements to modify instruction and improve student learning.
  10. Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with students, parents and staff.
  11. Demonstrated successful experience working with elementary students.
  12. Demonstrated ability to use technology in instruction.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Prior teaching experience in the area of Elementary Education.
