Creative Alternatives School in Fresno is looking to hire a school counselor. The school counselor will provide counseling services to our nonpublic school special education students. Creative Alternatives, Inc is a nonprofit agency providing services for at-risk youth. Our nonpublic schools are designed to meet the special and unique needs of every student. The majority of the students we serve have a variety of emotional, social, and behavioral problems. We serve K-12 with the majority of placements in grades 3-12. Emphasis is placed on improving social skills by requiring students to be held accountable for their actions. A system of rewards and consequences is used to assist in improving their social skills, Academic subjects are given equal attention. Our programs provide a higher level of structure and consistency and an intensely therapeutic environment to properly address internalizing and externalizing behavioral issues. All of the students in this environment have extremely diverse backgrounds and range in varying degrees, including but not limited to: emotionally disturbed, specific learning disabilities, ADD/ADHD, Pervasive Developmental Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS), autism, intellectual challenges, speech and language deficits, anxiety disorders, nonverbal learning disabilities, auditory processing disorders, and other health impairments.
