The Chabot-Las Positas Community College District is seeking a Part-Time Instructor, Computer Science for Las Positas College. The ideal candidate must have a passion for teaching and learning and a strong commitment to the missions and values of the community college.
Applicants will be expected to provide instruction in courses that include:
C/C++, Java and Python programming advanced data structures, computer architecture and design, assembly language programming, fundamentals of artificial intelligence, Database design and programming and Linux operating system usage and management.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines and class schedules
• Create and maintain an environment which emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinking
• Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas
• Meet with students outside of class periodically (office hours)
• Evaluate progress of students concerning educational matters
• Grade student’s work
• Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics
• Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member
• Maintain accurate academic records
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s in computer science or computer engineering OR Bachelor’s in either of the above AND Master’s in mathematics, cybernetics, business administration, accounting or engineering OR Bachelor’s in engineering AND Master’s in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics or business administration OR Bachelor’s in mathematics AND Master’s in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics, or business administration OR Bachelor’s degree in any of the above AND a master’s degree in information science, computer information systems, or information systems OR the equivalent.
Evidence of understanding of and responsiveness to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, racial and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices within the classroom.
