About the Employer
Thomas Edison Charter Academy is a Transitional Kindergarten through Eighth-Grade elementary school serving more than 600 students. TECA is currently one of 18 charter schools operating within the city of San Francisco and has been authorized by the San Francisco Unified School District since 2010. TECA received its original authorization for a Kindergarten through Fifth-Grade Charter in 2001, and in 2004 expanded to include the Sixth Grade by a unanimous vote of the California State Board of Education, the previous authorizer of the TECA Charter (SBE). In 2005, TECA expanded with its Seventh-Grade class and became a Kindergarten through Eighth-Grade school in 2006. In 2011, TECA became its own independent non-profit, governed by its local board, as it remains today.

Job Summary
-Support in the development of a safe and inclusive playground yard and be a significant presence on the yard by engaging in several large games as well as role modeling positive behavior. -Support instructional classes with elementary grade levels students and their teacher in team building, cooperative games, and activities to increase awareness of rules, boundaries, and skills utilized at recess. -Monitor activities prior to the school day, during school and dismissal, and after school. Operate a two-way radio to communicate with others. -Interact and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, school administrators, and other school staff communicating and/or receiving information. -Monitor the arrival and departure of students entering or leaving campus. Direct traffic and parking surrounding the building as needed. -Respond to emergency situations, which may include alarms, injuries, accidents, and/or other related incidents, to ensure the safety of students, staff, and property. May administer first aid and/or CPR. -Assist administrators, staff, and students during crisis situations including fire drills, lockdowns, bomb threats, and other emergencies. Help to evacuate or lockdown buildings as needed. -Complete other duties as assigned. -Must be available to work Full-Time: 40 hours/week (M-F 8:00-4:30pm) and extended hours to provide supervision during evening, school related events

High School Diploma/ GED LiveScan Fingerprinting and TB Screen must be cleared, prior to hire.
