Job Summary

The Restorative Practice Department has 1 full-time 11-month position to fill. This position is responsible for supporting the effective and systematic implementation of Restorative Justice Practices (RJP) within schools, in collaboration with school administrators, students, families, community stakeholders, certificated and classified personnel. Successful candidates will report to the Program Manager for the Restorative Justice Practices Department. This person will be responsible for creating and maintaining sustainable restorative justice practices across SDUSD through training, instructional planning, direct support, co-facilitation and monitoring the impact of restorative justice practices. Therefore a strong and thorough knowledge of Restorative Justice Practices is highly desired. Knowledge of the history of RJP and its effectiveness in enhancing California Education Code for creating positive school environments, promoting Social Emotional Learning and preventing exclusionary practices is required. Experience in the delivery of professional development around current legislation, youth empowerment/advocacy and understanding of Culturally Responsive Practices in supporting students is highly preferred. Knowledge of application of social-emotional skills, ethnic studies, culturally sustaining pedagogy and trauma-informed approaches within coaching support is needed. Proven record of working with student services and instructional teams effectively is highly desirable. Proficiency in using computer applications, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook is desired. Secondary school experience is desired. Experience in monitoring grants and evaluating programs is desired. Additionally, professional experience in conducting presentations and managing projects and related documentation is desired.

Requirements / Qualifications

Qualified applicants must have: (1) a valid California Multiple Subjects or Single Subjects Teaching Credential, (2) experience supporting the implementation of RJPs within schools, (3) experience collaborating with school personnel, families and students or, AND (4) a minimum of three years recent teaching experience. Credentials must be registered with the California Commission of Teacher Credentialing by the closing date. Applicants must have a valid California driver's license and be prepared to conduct, participate in, and travel to sites, professional development sessions, workshops, and meetings.
