THE POSITION: The Literacy Specialist Teacher will provide supplemental intensive instruction in reading and writing using evidenced-based practices to increase the achievement of identified students. This teacher may provide professional development regarding the reading intervention program and instructional practices.

Requirements / Qualifications

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE Must possess a Reading Certificate or a Reading Credential. Must possess and maintain a valid multiple subject teaching credential or single subject credential with an English Learner authorization (CLAD/BCLAD or equivalent required; SDAIE does not qualify). (Please attach the credential document with the document number as it appears on the Commission on Teacher Credentialing website. A copy of the credential certificate is not necessary.)

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: In accordance with LACEA agreement article X: Vacancy, Reassignment and Transfer, qualified persons are invited to submit a Request for Certificated Transfer form #705-201 to Diana Velasquez at Velasquez_dianay@lacoe.edu Applicants are responsible for submitting a completed electronic employment application, letter of introduction, resume, copy of credentials (Please attach the credential document with the document number as it appears on the Commission on Teacher Credentialing website. A copy of the credential certificate is not necessary.) Three current letters of recommendation that are signed and dated within the past 24 months, one (1) of which must be from immediate supervisor. All required documents must be submitted electronically with your application by the deadline date.

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement for All Los Angeles County Office of Education Employees Under Superintendent Policy 4060, COVID-19 Vaccination, the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) requires that all LACOE employees, including substitute employees, temporary office workers, hourly/part-time employees, contractors, interns, and volunteers are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. An individual is considered “fully vaccinated” when at least two weeks have passed since that individual’s receipt of the second dose in a two-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson and Johnson’s Janssen vaccine.
