Salary Range: 15 0-59 college semester units
18 AA degree or 60 college semester units
20 BA or BS degree
JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision, operate and promote the Families in Transition (McKinney-Vento Homeless Act) program; assist students and their families to access available services. (Grant-funded categorical position: Position is dependent on availability of grant funds.)
QUALIFICATIONS
a. Required:
- High school graduation or its equivalent.
- Possess valid California driver’s license.
- One year office experience where filing and record keeping are required.
- Knowledge of current office practices and procedures.
- Ability to keyboard, spell correctly and use proper grammar; use computer programs for data management; understand and follow oral and written instructions; establish and maintain cooperative relationships.
- Ability to use computer programs including Aeries, MicroSoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to speak and write effectively; research and retrieve information using computer technology; work independently; work calmly and accurately under pressure and with frequent interruptions; establish and maintain cooperative relationships.
- Ability to keyboard at a speed of 45 words per minute.
b. Desirable:
1. Some experience in working with young people and social service agencies.
2. Knowledge and use of technology in searching and using information which may include computers,
CD-ROM, video and telecommunications.
3. Ability to communicate verbally in Spanish.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Gather and review information on Residency Questionnaires.
2. Identify, receive referrals, and complete intake for families in the McKinney-Vento program.
3. Complete forms for services for students and families who qualify for the McKinney-Vento program.
4. Purchase and maintain inventory of materials, supplies and gift cards to distribute to qualified families and
their students.
- Provide one-to-one case management on a continuous basis.
- Network with related agencies in linking students and families to community resources.
- Write and produce letters, reports and memoranda, including material of a confidential nature.
- Collect and compile descriptive and statistical data.
- Maintain files and records.
10. Perform other duties as required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Ability to stand and circulate for extended periods of time.
2. May be required to ascend and descend steps.
3. Ability to see and read, with or without vision aids.
4. Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels.
5. Ability to communicate so others will clearly understand normal conversation.
6. Ability to bend and twist, kneel and stoop.
7. Ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds on a regular basis and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
8. Ability to reach in all directions.
9. Physical dexterity in limbs and digits to operate computer keyboards and other equipment.
