Job Summary
The San Mateo Foster City School District is looking for people to translate written documents and interpret oral communications for parents and teachers. We are looking for the following languages, Portuguese and Simultaneous, American Sign language, Mandarin and Japanese. Translators will attend meetings and parent-teacher conferences to support interpretation for parents. Translators also support the district and school sites with written translation of documents and report card comments. Applicants must have an extensive vocabulary in both languages and follow confidentiality guidelines of the District. Applicants will be interviewed and their oral and written abilities will be assessed before acceptance onto the list of approved translators.

The district serves a total population of over 100,000 in the cities of San Mateo and Foster City. The district is located on the San Francisco peninsula, 19 miles south of San Francisco just north of the Silicon Valley. Its mild climate and ideal location make it an attractive place in which to live and work.
