Sierra Foothills Academy is a K-12 school for children with Special needs. Our small school environment enables us to work more hands on with our students. TEACHER’S AIDE JOB SUMMARY: Performs any combination of instructional tasks in the classroom to assist teachers and teaching staff to ensure that optimal education needs of our students are met. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (includes, but is not limited to): -Maintains a positive demeanor with students and staff. -Is proactive in addressing the needs of our students. -Works cooperatively as a part of a multi-disciplinary team. -Provides appropriate positive reinforcement -Assists in implementing behavior modification plans within/outside the classroom environment. -Responsible for communicating schedule of duties and relief needs with the classroom teacher. -Flexibility to adapt to different job assignments. -Ability to meet the physical demands of the job. -Excellent communication skills with students, work colleagues and parents. -Helps facilitate lessons. -With guidance, assists in providing crisis interactions. -Writes clearly and competently when documenting incidents/accidents. -Possible one-to-one student assignment. -Assists ambulatory and non-ambulatory students with toileting, diapering, etc., as needed. -Assists in behavioral data collection. -Learns and implements the school behavior plan policies. -Ability to operate a van with students. -Other tasks as assigned
