ORCUTT UNION SCHOOL DISTRICT CLASS TITLE: DIRECTOR OF CHILD NUTRITION SERVICES BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent/Business Services, with a staff relationship to educational administration, plan, organize, coordinate, direct and supervise the District's food services and nutritional information program according to Federal and State guidelines and policies approved by the Board of Trustees. The Director of Child Nutrition Services is responsible for all aspects of the nutrition and food service program which provides service to all sites in the District using a central kitchen and satellite site operations. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: Plans, directs and manages the District-wide school food service program in conformance with Federal and State laws and regulations, local and State health ordinances, and school district policies, with a focus on producing and promoting healthy meals. E Develops and recommends changes in food service program policies and procedures to District administrators including application processing and computerized lunch count procedures for the USDA National School Lunch and Breakfast Program. E Establishes and implements department goals and objectives in alignment with the District’s Strategic Plan. E Develops an advanced budget which includes cost and revenue analysis. E Develops prices that comply with guidelines and ensure coverage of operating overhead and cost of sales. Requirements / Qualifications

Valid CA Driver’s License Status as a Registered Dietitian with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and/or Certification as a School Nutrition Specialist from the School Nutrition Association within six (6) months of employment in position.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent educational experience from an accredited college or university with an academic major in dietetics, foods and nutrition, food service management, family and consumer sciences, nutrition education, culinary arts, business, or a related field, and three years of administrative or supervisory experience in school food service, hospital food service, institutional or contract food service programs, or restaurant management; OR Bachelor’s Degree with any academic major and a State-recognized certificate in above fields and three years of administrative or supervisory experience in school food service, hospital food service, institutional or contract food service programs, or restaurant management. Multi-unit supervisory food service experience is desirable. Associate Degree in above fields with School Nutrition experience will be considered.
