Reporting to and under direct supervision of the Dean, School of Education, with additional lead work direction from the Student Services Coordinator, the Credentials Analyst Trainee is responsible for learning to process applications, evaluate academic qualifications, determine credit to issued towards credentials and permits, and to interpret and apply the California Education Code and other regulations pertaining to the issuance of various credentials, certificates and permits for public school teaching and service in California. In addition, the incumbent maintains resource documents that describe all the rules and requirements for each type of credential, circulates and posts announcements regarding testing dates, activities and schedules related to credential preparation; provides forms, handouts and instructions related to applying for credentials; maintains progress files on students seeking credentials; announces, schedules and coordinates campus activities and workshops related to the teacher preparation program; keeps current with respect to California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) announcements and notifications; and learns to assist students and members of the faculty, faculty committees and other interested parties by interpreting credential rules, regulations and processes.

Key Qualifications
This position requires equivalent training and experience involving academic, administrative, fiscal or statistical record-keeping and processing or course work involving the development of analytical skills. Knowledge of general office procedures, methods, and practices, including techniques used in processing information required. Intermediate proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) required. Knowledge of Google Suite, FileMaker Pro and PeopleSoft preferred.
 
Salary and Benefits
Starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and will not exceed $3,720 a month. This is a full time, non-exempt position. Upon completion of the training, the Trainee is expected to be able to perform the duties of the Credential Analyst I under general supervision. If the training program is successfully completed, the Trainee will be reclassified to a Credential Analyst I.
 
This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 14 paid holidays are offered each year; 13 scheduled on specific days and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year.
