WRITTEN TESTS
Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at 11:00 A.M., SHARP. Education Center, Board Room, 4850 Pedley Road, Jurupa Valley, California 92509. THE TESTING WILL TAKE APPROXIMATELY ONE AND ONE-HALF (1 1/2) HOUR TO COMPLETE. PLEASE BE PREPARED TO REMAIN IN THE TESTING ROOM FOR THE ENTIRE TEST PERIOD. THIS IS THE ONLY NOTICE OF THE TESTING.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
YOU WILL NEED TO BRING A VALID STATE OR GOVERNMENT ISSUED ID IN ORDER TO TEST. PLEASE ALLOW SUFFICIENT TIME TO PARK AND CHECK IN WITH THE FRONT DESK PRIOR TO ENTERING THE TESTING ROOM.

Jurupa Unified School District CUSTODIAN DEFINITION Under supervision to keep assigned rooms, buildings or offices clean and orderly; to perform routine preventive maintenance tasks; to be responsible for building security; and to do related work as assigned. The position of Custodian is differentiated from the position of Head Custodian in that there is not supervisory responsibility. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS · Cleans classrooms, cafeterias, offices, etc.. · Cleans, disinfects, scrubs, and mops restrooms, locker rooms, and gymnasiums. · Scrubs, mops, waxes, sweeps and dust-mops floors. · Vacuums rugs and carpets. · Picks up papers and other debris on grounds and walks. · Replenishes paper supplies. · Empties waste baskets and other trash receptacles. · Washes windows and performs other cleaning tasks. · Assists in moving and arranging furniture and equipment, and setting up buildings and rooms for meetings and special events. · Locks and secures the site. OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS · Makes minor repairs. · Changes batteries, chair glides, and light bulbs. · Performs other related tasks as assigned. LICENSE REQUIREMENT Possession of a valid, appropriate California Driver’s License. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of: Basic methods, supplies, and equipment used in cleaning work. Ability to: Quickly learn the schedules, procedures and full use of equipment and supplies used in custodial work; Make minor non-technical repairs; Work with a minimum of supervision; Work safely; Follow oral and written instructions; Perform tasks of heavy physical exertion; Climb and use stepladders up to 16 feet in height; Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; Read, understand and follow instructions and other documents; Personnel Services (over) CUSTODIAN Ability to (continued): Communicate effectively; Stand, stoop, kneel, bend and walk for extended periods of time; Climb slopes, stairs, steps and ladders; Lift, carry, push and pull heavy to very heavy objects; Accomplish tasks at various elevated heights in a safe and effective manner; Accomplish tasks with chemical agents and cleansers in a safe and effective manner; Perform strenuous manual labor for up to 8 hours; Efficiently and effectively operate typical custodial machines and equipment; Clean up body fluids such as blood and vomit, etc.; Work alone and/or at night; Deal with hostile, emotional, ill or angry persons in an effective manner; Follow the work schedule as directed even when not directly supervised; Work effectively in spite of noise and distractions such as community or athletic activities which may occur during the shift; Remain flexible and calm when dealing with students and visitors; Maintain steady, regular attendance. Experience: No previous experience required. Education: Equivalent to completion of the eighth grade. Personal Qualities: Dependability, reliability, highly motivated.
