Job Description: Applications are now being accepted for the position of Pupil Services and Attendance (PSA) Counselor, Black Student Achievement Plan (BSAP). BSAP PSA Counselors will provide child welfare and attendance supports, working with Black students and families to address social/emotional, home, and community barriers and support Black students with achieving their academic potential. BSAP PSA Counselors leverage a strengths-based, identity affirming approach to ensure that the educational goals and needs of our Black students within the assigned local district/program/school are met. Each BSAP PSA Counselor will report directly to Pupil Services program administrator(s), under the direction of the Director, Pupil Services and the Lead Director of the Black Student Achievement Network. Positions may require adjusted work schedule according to program needs. These positions are subject to review for renewal on an annual basis. An earned master’s degree or advanced degree of at least equivalent standard conferred by a regionally-accredited college or university in the field of counseling, social work, educational psychology, education, or other related field One year of supervised field experience, as verified by an approved institution, in social work, school counseling, school psychology OR one year of successful full-time service in a certificated position which requires a Pupil Personnel Service Credential A valid California Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential authorizing K-12 service in Child Welfare and Attendance (CWA) Special Requirement: A valid California driver license and the use of an automobile Applicants are advised that meeting the stated minimum requirements does not ensure an invitation to an interview.
