About the Employer
The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. Job Summary
The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) Project GLAD® Unit provides evidence-based practices that help design classrooms and lessons where language comes alive through content. OCDE is both the home to the National Training Center for OCDE Project GLAD® and is a Regional Training Center (RTC). OCDE is the official National Training Center (NTC) for the Project GLAD® (Guided Language Acquisition Design) model. As a government non-profit organization, the NTC creates positive social impact through high-quality, rigorous research-based professional learning. The goal of the NTC is to support Local EducationalAgencies (LEAs) in building sustainable implementation structures to meet the needs of English learners/emergent bilinguals through the development of trainers. The OCDE Project GLAD® RTC supports growth and implementation of the model throughout California, creating systems of sustainability within PK-12 classrooms. Our services include: - Supporting local school district's implementation of the OCDE Project GLAD® model - Strengthening trainers and educators in effective classroom practices - Delivering professional learning - Engaging in local research, development, and data analysis - Operating as thought partners with districts as they develop integrative methods for OCDE Project GLAD® and state initiatives, policies, and programs (i.e., Dual Immersion, EL Roadmap, Social Emotional Competencies) The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) is seeking a knowledgeable professional to serve as Project Liaison, Project GLAD®. The Project Liaison will assist in the implementation of Project GLAD and its various strands, inclusive but not limited to Preschool GLAD®, Project GLAD® in Elementary, Project GLAD® in Secondary, and Project GLAD® in Multilingual settings.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience with implementing Project GLAD® across organizational structures, with a specific focus on systems design, creating sustainable structures and operations. • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college with major coursework in elementary or secondary education, child and adolescent studies, or a related field.
