Under the direction of the Director Special Student Services, the job of the Educational Social Worker is done for the purpose/s of providing District-wide support for family support services; assistance to schools for students who are identified to be "at-risk" for school failure; and providing services including home visits, conferencing, classroom demonstrations, referral to outside agencies, individual group and family counseling, parent education, and staff in-service.  Furthermore, assess and define problems children may be experiencing with school attendance and performance, family interactions, social problems and school-community relations which interfer with the student's ability and potential to obtain a satisfactory education; consult and assist parents, teachers and others concerned with the child and his family in planning appropriate strategies for the problem and to assure services are provided according to planned strategy.

Requirements / Qualifications

1. Possess a valid Pupil Personnel Services credential or have the ability to obtain with specialization in social work and/or school counseling authorizing individuals to provide school services in grades 12 and below, including preschool; 2. Any combination equivalent to: master’s degree in social work or closely related field and sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities in educational social work; 3. LCSW (or display evidence of current progress toward LCSW or other licensing closing related) preferred; 4. Verify passing score on the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST); 5. Bilingual (Spanish-English) is preferred.
