POSITION DETAILS The Fullerton School District and the Personnel Commission is seeking a qualified individual to fill a full-time HVAC Technician position in our Maintenance and Operations department. The HVAC Technician, under immediate supervision of the Supervisor of Maintenance and Operations, performs advanced level work to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, balance and perform analysis on all types of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVACR) equipment systems, designs and applications; programs automated controls system; plans, estimates and commissions new installation or renovations of HVAC equipment; performs installation, repair, assembly and maintenance of water, sewage, drainage, air, gas and vacuum systems and related equipment and facilities. This career opportunity is an 8 hours/day, 12-month position with working hours from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and comes with paid holidays, sick leave and vacation. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Experience: Any combination equivalent to two (2) years of experience in performing journey-level heating and air conditioning mechanics. Knowledge of: Methods, materials and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of heating, refrigeration and air conditioning equipment and plumbing systems; laws, ordinances and regulations regarding air conditioning, heating, refrigeration, ventilating equipment and plumbing systems. Licenses/Other: * Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License and insurability to drive a District vehicle as part of the District’s Pull Notice program is required. * EPA Technician Certificate is required. * A copy of recent (less than one month old from the recruitment closing date) DMV online driver record is required.
EXAMINATION PROCEDURES This is a merged promotional and open competitive recruitment. The examination may consist of a training and experience (supplemental responses) evaluation, written test, performance test and/or structured oral interview. To qualify to be placed on an eligibility list, a candidate must obtain a passing score on each part of the examination process. Final scores will be obtained by combining the relative weights of scores on each part of the examination. If Veteran's credit is claimed, proof of status (DD214) must be submitted to the Classified Personnel Commission Office at the same time the application form is submitted or prior to testing. The life of the eligibility list will be twelve (12) months. The resulting eligibility list will be used to fill future vacancies. Date of Examination The date of the examination(s) will be announced at a later date. Candidates who are among the most qualified shall be notified via email, and/or telephone of the time, date and place of the examination(s).
