Job Summary

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Executive Director, Student Services, or designee, provides supervision and instruction for students in preschool and assists in other preschool programs related to the teacher’s assigned areas. Also supervises preschool instructional aides.

Requirements / Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of: • Early childhood development. • Effective lesson planning strategies for preschool-age students. • Effective classroom management skills to maintain student safety and effective learning. • Lesson modifications to ensure success for students with IEPs and 504s. Ability to: • Operate a computer and related software. • Plan and organize lessons to optimize instructional time. • Follow oral and written directions. • Maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other district personnel, students, and parents. • Communicate with students, staff, and the public using tact, patience, and courtesy, • Understand, be sensitive to, and respect the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, disabilities, and sexual orientation of students, staff, and public who may be encountered as part of the position’s assigned duties. • Maintain consistent, punctual, and regular attendance. EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS: Education: Bachelor’s degree with a major in early childhood education or at least six (6) semester units in early childhood education courses. Experience: Volunteer or professional experience working with preschool age children. Licenses Credential, Bonding and/or Testing: California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, CLAD Certificate or equivalency
