The Chabot-Las Positas Community College District is seeking a PT Instructor, Mathematics. Applicants will be expected to provide instruction in a variety of math courses, including transfer-level, associate’s degree, technical math, and Math Jam & concurrent support courses. They should also be willing to teach courses in various modes of offering, including traditional lecture, self-paced (Emporium), and online.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s in mathematics or applied mathematics OR Bachelor’s in either of the above AND Master’s in statistics, physics or mathematics education OR the equivalent.
Evidence of understanding of and responsiveness to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, racial and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices within the classroom.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines and class schedules, creating and maintaining an environment which emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinking, maintaining current knowledge in the subject matter areas, meeting with students outside of class periodically (office hours), evaluating progress of students concerning educational matters and grading students’ work, maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics, fulfilling professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member and maintaining accurate academic records.
• Teach any of the following mathematics classes: Pre-Algebra, Elementary Algebra, Intermediate Algebra, Geometry, Statistics, Math for Liberal Arts, Trigonometry, College Algebra, Calculus for Business, Finite Mathematics, Number Systems for Educators, Calculus 1, Calculus 2, Calculus 3, Ordinary Differential Equations, Linear Algebra, Discrete Mathematics, Math Jam, Concurrent Support, and other courses as needed.
• Contribute to the mathematics department and college, as needed, through participation in professional development activities, committee work, departmental/division/college meetings, student life, clubs, and other professional or collegiate activities.
Desirable Qualifications:
• Experience teaching at the community college level or being the instructor of record in lower division mathematics courses.
• Experience teaching online.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity in mathematics instruction.
