POSITION SUMMARY: Supervises students before and/or after school, during recess, and/or during lunch periods. If assigned for lunch duty employee may be required to assist in the lunch area supervising students, wiping down tables, changing out garbage bags, sweeping, etc. The lunchroom aide position is an “as needed” position based upon site needs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This list of Essential Duties and responsibilities is not exhaustive and may be supplemented. 1. Assist the site custodial staff in maintaining clean eating areas for lunch periods. 2. Wipe down tables, and empty trash receptacles between groups of students. 3. Sweep area as needed during lunch period. 4. Supervise students in the lunchroom and on the playground as needed. Notify appropriate staff when violations of student conduct policy occur. 5. Performs and participates in other related duties as assigned by the building administrator or designee. POSITION EXPECTATIONS: Ability to: 1. Follows all polices, rules and procedures established by the school district. 2. Effectively interacts and communicate with children. 3. Works under close supervision of the site staff. 4. Take initiative, be flexible and take instruction as directed. 5. Maintains a system for the disposal of food waste. 6. Ensures that students are seated in assigned areas throughout their time in the cafeteria. 7. Circulates among the tables during the mealtime so as to be available to children who need help or to resolve any problems that arise. 8. Ensure the cleanliness of tables and surrounding areas. 9. Communicates with the Dean, Principal, or Designee of any serious infractions of discipline by students. 10. Disseminates medical problems and injuries to the immediate attention of school nurse, principal, and designee. 11. Is alert at all times to the children and their needs. Skill Requirements
? Excellent organizational and leadership abilities are required to be a successful campus supervisor.
? Skilled in communicating with a wide range of ages and personalities, and be able to resolve conflicts fairly to the satisfaction of all participants.
? Maintain a high level of alertness and awareness of surroundings.
? Oral communication abilities are needed to clearly explain rules and regulations.
? Current CPR and First Aid certificate required.
? Ability to maintain a calm demeanor in stressful situations.
Job Duties
? Aside from overseeing the playground activities, a campus supervisor is required to make sure those in her charge observe safety rules.
? Observing attendance at organized competitions and events, including adults, students and visitors.
? Flexibility and creativity are necessary for games and activities that may need to be altered based on weather conditions, or absent or injured participants.
? Greet students and families at the gate and/or in crosswalk before and after school daily.
? Walk the school grounds before, during and after the school day checking for safety issues: unlocked gates, snakes, trash, etc.
? Complete various duties as assigned by Administration and or front office staff.
? Move through the facility constantly, observing situations and being proactive with evolving situations.
? Maintain communication with front office personnel. Be available as needed.
? Some light janitorial duties may be assigned (e.g. climbing a ladder, use of hand tools, changing the school marquee)
Work Conditions
? Performed outdoors, so being comfortable working in all types of weather is required.
? The atmosphere is typically high energy and filled with the sounds of competition
and rigorous physical activity. A campus supervisor has to be in good physical condition to move with agility about the area and monitor several activities at once.
? Preferred attire is usually casual and includes comfortable footwear.
Educational Requirements
? High school diploma or equivalent or higher
? prefer a minimum of six months' experience in a supervisory role in a recreational setting
? Certificates in first aid and CPR are commonly required for this position.
? TB clearance
? DOJ clearance

Applicant must be willing and able to work outdoors and do light custodial duties. Teamwork and people skills are necessary. This will include recess duty, lunch duty, some light custodial and possibly parking lot duty..
