Interpreter/Translator (KOREAN) at Fullerton Elementary School District

POSITION DETAILS The Fullerton School District and Personnel Commission is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic individual for a full-time position as Interpreter/Translator-Korean for the Superintendent's office. The Interpreter/Translator-Korean uses technical skills to clearly and accurately interpret a variety of complex oral communication from English to Korean. May also perform complex translations clearly and accurately from a variety of written source documents from English to Korean. Also performs a wide variety of complex clerical/technical tasks as assigned. The Interpreter/Translator-Korean acts as the principal Korean translator for the District and would be attending special events (such as Board Meetings) as needed. This career opportunity is a 40 hours/week, 12 months/year position with paid holidays, sick leave, and vacation. Work hours are generally Monday to Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM and the flexibility of the schedule for special events and evenings is desirable. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent. College level courses in general education and specialized interpreter/translator training are desirable. EXAMINATION PROCEDURES This is a merged promotional and open competitive recruitment. The examination may consist of a training and experience (supplemental response) evaluation, written test, performance test and/or structured/technical oral interview. To qualify to be placed on an eligibility list, a candidate must obtain a passing score on each test part of the examination process. Final scores will be obtained by combining the relative weights of scores on each part of the examination. If Veteran's credit is claimed, proof of status (DD214) must be submitted to the Classified Personnel Office at the same time the application form is submitted or prior to testing. The life of the eligibility list is twelve (12) months. The resulting eligibility list will be used to fill current and future vacancies. Date of Examination The date of the examination(s) will be announced at a later date. Candidates who are among the most qualified shall be notified via email, and/or telephone of the time, date and place of the examination(s).
