About the Employer
The Merced County Office of Education assists Merced County’s 20 school districts through support and oversight of curriculum and instruction, alternative education, business services, early education, technology, migrant education, special education, and teacher credentialing. MCOE is led by the elected Merced County Superintendent of Schools and governed by the Merced County Board of Education. While serving as a focal point to facilitate local school/government/community partnerships, MCOE is responsible for the fiscal oversight of each school district in Merced County, hears appeals for student expulsion hearings and interdistrict transfers and operates Green Meadows Outdoor School.

Job Summary
Under administrative direction, the School Administrative Secretary coordinates, organizes, oversees and performs responsible and complex secretarial, administrative support and office management duties at the main office of a school for the Principal and other site administrators. Performs a variety of administrative tasks and coordinates and prioritizes the workflow and clerical support activities of the school office.

Minimum qualifications: EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: This position requires a high school diploma or recognized equivalent plus one additional year of advanced secretarial training/coursework, and three years of progressive experience in a secretarial/office administration capacity. Experience working in a school district or similar agency is highly desirable. CERTIFICATIONS/SKILLS: May require a valid California driver’s license, minimum amount of liability insurance required by law.. May require a DMV Driver Record printout. Requires typing test at 55 wpm.
