Job Summary

Job Summary

ROLE SUMMARY At Alliance, we believe that all of our scholars can achieve at high levels, including our English Learners, scholars with disabilities, and other diverse learners. As we transition back to in-person school, we know that there is a small portion of our scholar population who are unable to return safely to in-person school due to physical health concerns. Therefore, we are preparing to serve a limited subset of our scholar population via at-home independent study. For most of our independent study courses, we are partnering with Edgenuity to provide virtual courses/instruction. However, Edgenuity does not offer designated English Language Development (ELD) courses. Therefore, we are seeking a dedicated, mission-driven teacher who will provide high-quality, synchronous virtual ELD instruction to our independent study English Learners across Alliance, including both middle and high school scholars. This is a one year, virtual position reporting to the Director of Academic Intervention and Language Acquisition at Alliance’s Home Office. While the need for this specific virtual role will likely not extend past this school year, there is the potential to transition into an onsite ELD role at one of our schools the following school year if desired. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to build a program that will span all Alliance schools and to make a positive impact on a group of scholars who will need support and guidance as they navigate an unusual school year of independent studies. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for English Language Development who will hold any of the following credentials by August 1, 2021, are welcome to apply: - California Single or Multiple Subject Credential (Clear or Preliminary) - If you hold a Multiple Subject Credential, you must have an ELA1 Authorization - Prior to applying, please review the credential requirements listed on our webpage.   - Active California teacher certification in the assigned subject area(s) and
