Requirements / Qualifications

Charter Connections Academy is a 9-12th grade program under the El Dorado County Office of Education. Our format is similar to a college where students come to class two days per week and must complete significant work at home on the other school days. Our students are terrific. Our efforts go towards creating an environment where students learn and are prepared for their future. Our students use technology, and we design our courses within a web-based Learning Management System (L.M.S.) to create a seamless educational experience for students. Class sizes run around 15 students. Preparation time for teachers is a high priority so that students can receive quality instruction and significant feedback on their work. We are looking for a teacher interested in working a full-time position who has experience with hands-on curriculum in the physical sciences, technology, and solid Math teaching skills up through Algebra. A portion of this position is also for serving as a supervising teacher who will effectively work with individual students. These students are young people who do not participate in our twice per week program. This teacher will meet weekly with these independent study students. Compassion and interpersonal skills are key. We are also looking for unique talents and skills that a candidate can bring to our school. In other words, what else can you bring besides your credential(s)?

Characteristics we are looking for: - An effective and dynamic instructor who loves to work with students individually as well as in a classroom setting. - An understanding of STEM concepts and the ability to merge structure, inquiry, and learn by doing together in a Robotics/Coding/tech classroom. - A person who passionately embraces new ideas, change, and out-of-the-box thinking. We are not a traditional five-day-a-week program. - A person who wants to actively contribute to an environment which is committed to high quality service to our students and families. - The ability to create, adapt, and modify curriculum to work in a program which meets only two days per week. Canned curriculum does not work in our setting. - The ability to quickly connect with students, inspire them, and maintain a culture of learning and mutual respect. - A person who is technologically savvy.is proficient with a variety of technological tools.
