We will have MFT Field Practicum Placement opportunities for Fall/Winter 2022. Resumes and letters of inquiry will be reviewed beginning May 2022. Definition: MFT Field Placement opportunities are available at Hayward Twin Oaks Montessori School. Under the direct supervision of a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, MFT Trainee or Associate provides individual and group therapy services to students as part of the Mental Health Department program defined by HTOMS. MFT Trainee or Associate will receive clinical supervision (individual or group) in accordance with BBS stipulations. Optimum commitment on site is 10 hours per week. Previous work or volunteer experience is a plus. Bilingual Spanish speaking is a plus. Distinguishing Characteristics: Maintains strict confidentiality while providing direct therapy services to students and families to support students' mental health needs; maintains regular contact with supervisors per licensing requirements; and consults with staff about optimizing and supporting students' mental health. Supervision Exercised and Received: Works under the administrative and evaluative supervision of the Mental Health Clinical Director and will receive clinical supervision in accordance with state BBS requirements. Examples of Duties and Responsibilities: Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: • Conducts pre and post assessment related to emotional health needs; • Provides direct therapy services to students; • Consults with teachers, school psychologists, administrators and other school staff regarding students' social-emotional needs related to education; • Provides written reports of services within bounds of confidentiality regulations; • Uses personal vehicle to drive to and from student’s home to performs in-home mental health services as needed; • Maintains all requirements of MFT internsh
Requirements / Qualifications
Education: • Currently enrolled in an accredited Masters Degree Program or have received a Masters Degree from accredited college or university in the field of marriage and family counseling and/or all academic preparation required for internship as defined by state licensing requirements for MFT Associates. • Must be currently working towards the fulfillment of MFT Trainee or Associate hours Experience: • Some experience with the special education population is highly desirable.
