The strongest candidates will: • Have experience designing and delivering rich standards-based learning experiences virtually to a diverse community of learners • Use ongoing assessments to determine student needs and modify instruction using that data • Design instruction for heterogeneous groupings to teach content to multiple grade levels • Build and support a positive online classroom community of learners • Embed the effective use of technology into instruction practices to personalize student learning • Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive working relationships with students, colleagues, parents, and the community through a virtual environment. • Have work experience where flexibility and innovation were necessary The Virtual Academy Pilot Program TK-3 Teacher will teach students in a virtual environment who are admitted to this program due to medical concerns aligned with COVID-19. The Teacher will collaborate virtually with colleagues across grade bands and report to a school site administrator assigned to the Virtual Academy Pilot Program. Students in this program will receive at least 240 minutes of synchronous instruction on a daily basis and at least 30 minutes of small group instruction three times a week. The remainder of the required daily instructional minutes will be supported through asynchronous assignments.

We welcome applications from teachers who have not yet received their credentials, and our Credentials Team is happy to work with each teacher who’s accepted a position in SFUSD to apply for permits that allow them to teach while pursuing a credential. Desired Qualifications 1. Knowledge of or experience implementing the National Standards for Online Teaching 2. Teaching experience in a K-12 urban public educational setting. 3. Knowledge of or experience implementing Response to Intervention and Instruction (RTI2), Restorative Justice/Practices model and protocols, and Balanced Literacy. 4. Strong content knowledge of key digital learning pedagogies and ability to apply it to teaching and learning in virtual environments
