With schools dating back to the 1870s, the award-winning Riverside Unified School District (RUSD) is now the 16th largest school district in California. RUSD educates nearly 42,000 students across 50 schools in Riverside. The District serves a large portion of Riverside as well as the unincorporated areas of Highgrove and Woodcrest. Requirements / Qualifications

Under the direction of the Coordinator of Digital Learning Initiatives, the Instructional Design Specialist provides leadership for the creation, revision, and maintenance of all asynchronous professional learning. The Instructional Design Specialist facilitates asynchronous learning opportunities for certificated and classified staff to acquire knowledge, skills, and competencies in an effective and appealing manner. The Specialist uses adult learning theory and research to design and develop materials that educate and instruct specified groups of people. The Specialist leads a team of instructional designers and instructional design technicians to develop engaging learning experiences. The Specialist can expect to work with subject matter experts, a diverse range of formats, and multimedia production platforms. The Specialist has a firm grasp of how people learn, and excellent visual design, writing, communication, and collaboration skills. • Leads a design team to create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and transfer. • Leads a design team to collaborate with subject matter experts and identify the target audience’s training needs. • Coordinates online professional learning platform. • Implements best practices for measuring the impact of professional learning. • Collaborates with subject matter experts to develop instructional end goals and create content that matches them. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree or Industry level certification, preferably in instructional design, human resources, organizational development, business, or a closely related field and relevant experience in developing, coordinating, implementing and evaluating training, educational and/or employee development programs.
