Job Summary

Job Summary

The Technology and Information Services Project Manager supervises technology and innovation projects across the District. The Project Manager collects data and processes information to assess, create, implement and maintain technology systems throughout the District, including educational technology.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Proactively respond to district needs through technology and innovation projects. 

Define the scope of projects in collaboration with district stakeholders. 

Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project.

Determine the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion.

Communicate ongoing project status with project stakeholders.

Monitor the progress of projects and make adjustments as necessary to ensure successful completion.

Communicate with all district departments to explore, develop and implement process improvement projects.

Design mechanisms that will allow for collection of data for various district systems.

Design new databases that will complement information needs and provide uniform data warehouse for all student and organizational information.

Develop skills of school site personnel to facilitate their use and manipulation of assessment and organizational data. 

Participate in planning of the complete district assessment system and its interface with state systems.

Design methods to organize data to assist in the identification of students in need of intervention services.

Provide training to schools, principals, teachers and district staff to allow them to manipulate data to answer program effectiveness questions on school sites. 

Provide training to schools and district staff as new databases are created and incorporated into information systems. 

Coordinate technical implementation of integrated student information system which combines standards, benchmarks and assessments, grades K-12.

Coach classroom teachers and other staff members on use and manipulation of student data including report cards, standards, and assessments. 

Assist with strategic planning for TIS services.

Assist with coordination of model technology programs. 

Assist with coordination of Site Technology Coaches 

Assist in staff development for all district staff, schools and departments. 

Assist in network management and security for data systems and instructional applications. 

Perform related duties, as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
:

Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of project analysis and management methodologies; business process management strategies; data privacy standards; network operating systems and protocols including Windows and Linux; database programming and administration web hosting services and systems on Windows and Linux systems; Cisco operating system; Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC); Windows and other directory services models including incorporation of LDAP applications and resources; technical operation of a variety of microcomputers, peripheral equipment, communications hardware and a wide variety of software applications; training principles and techniques; oral and written communication skills; interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy; technical aspects of field of specialty; proper lifting techniques; operate a vehicle in a safe manner.

Abilities: Ability to plan and organize projects in order to bring about proactive organizational innovation and improvement; develop, communicate and monitor work plans; analyze current organizational processes; understand network issues at all levels including those from outside the enterprise; plan and develop enterprise applications based on a single directory service; develop, install, and maintain single “sign on” systems for user provisioning using single directory service; develop and program systems using Structured Query Language and other database and programming languages; consolidate disparate database systems via ODBC or other connectivity technologies into single data zone; assist with the coordination of the District's computer information function and provide technical assistance to District personnel; read, understand and apply technical and complex documents; learn and apply new concepts in computer systems; update and document procedures; work with users at various levels of expertise; establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others; understand and follow oral and written directions; prioritize work to meet schedules and time lines; analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action; maintain current knowledge of technological advances in the field; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; observe legal and defensive driving practices.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Environment:

Indoor work environment; subject to driving a vehicle to conduct work.

Physical Abilities:

Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer terminal, peripheral equipment and standard office machines, sitting or standing for extended periods of time, reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, hearing and speaking to exchange information and provide training to others, moderate lifting of objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and bending at the waist.
