LEAD EXTENDED STUDENT SERVICES ASSISTANT
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Extended Student Services Supervisor, assist in the overall activities of school-aged children in an Extended Student Services (ESS) program; assist in planning and designing activities; maintain records and files; assist in the training and supervision of aides and student workers.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Assist the ESS Supervisor in daily activities; organize and prepare a positive learning environment; prepare materials and supplies; lead and supervise students in games in a classroom or playground environment. E
Maintain a safe and secure environment for students; provide student behavior management charts and programs; develop positive behavior with incentives and reinforcements. E
Participate in the hiring, training, and supervision of regular and student aides; contact substitutes; establish and maintain employee records for personnel and payroll. E
Prepare registration packets; maintain files and records including student enrollment, family accounting ledgers and receipts; collect registration and tuition fees; assist in collection of delinquent accounts; provide security for monies received. E
Administer first aid and follow necessary emergency procedures; verify medication authorization; monitor medical conditions; identify and report safety hazards on site. E
Assure the health and safety of students by following health and safety practices and procedures; assist in maintaining a clean and orderly environment. E
Perform a variety of clerical duties including typing, duplicating, recording attendance and laminating materials. E
Assist with budget planning including purchasing and receiving supplies; maintain inventory control of food, supplies and equipment. E
Communicate with current and prospective parents and various organizations to explain the ESS program; coordinate program activities with District personnel as needed; contact guest speakers; organize field trips; provide tours for visitors. E
Participate in meetings and in-service training programs as assigned. E
Operate a variety of office equipment including a computer and assigned software; drive a vehicle to conduct work. E
Perform related duties as assigned.

ABILITY TO:
Assist the ESS Supervisor with supervision and related activities of the assigned center.

Read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
Complete work with many interruptions.
Oversee and discipline students according to approved policies and procedures.
Operate standard office equipment including computer and assigned software.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· passage of the PUSD examination for this classification
or
· 48 college/university semester units or equivalent quarter units
and
· a minimum of 6 units of early childhood development or related field
· one year experience working in a preschool or child care program
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid California driver’s license.
Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate issued by an authorized agency.

Lifting moderately heavy objects.

Requirements / Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: One year experience working in a preschool or child care program. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid California driver's license. Valid certifications provided by American Heart Association, American Red Cross or District approved provider for First Aid, Adult/Child CPR and AED. Online certifications will be accepted from these vendors as long as a hands-on skills assessment is completed. Recertification to maintain current/valid status is a condition of employment. PLEASE NOTE: Current and Valid Adult & Child CPR/AED and First Aid certifications from a District approved provider MUST be attached to your application or provided prior to the filing deadline for it to be considered complete. District approved providers are: American Heart Association, American Red Cross or Save A Life.
